A Ceil Chapman documented 1956 dress! Done in a rich gold silk jacquard in a flower and ribbon motif. The silk is the lightest, yet richest gold silk you will ever feel! The silhouette is classic Ceil and is super fitted with a low open back. The back is extraordinary! It has an attached double layered draped panel that morphs into the gathered sarong style skirt. The skirt has a pegged effect. Back metal zipper. Bodice is fully boned and entirely lined.
The copy on the article reads: " Toast to the Future of ankle-length styles is personified in Ceil Chapman's gold brocade evening dress. Draped dramatically, it has a detailed back."

Condition: Very Good Vintage: A faint brown spot on the interior bodice (see last pic), one at the hem of skirt. A cluster of tiny pindot holes on the back of skirt that we didn't even notice until the lining was separated from the silk and light shined in on it. Most are pindot sized and a couple are little larger. Neckline and sleeve opening are ever so slightly tarnished, but this is really minor.
